Why We Have Holidays

I went on a holiday over the Deepavali weekend.

As I was happily enjoying myself, I started to think how much change and unfamiliarity one has to experience during the holiday.

People usually don’t like change and often avoid doing things that are unfamiliar or possible dangerous. Yet during holidays you get heaps of these, especially when you go somewhere for the first time.

Why do people embrace such change with such excitement and gusto? Perhaps there are reasons to learn from our holidays when we design and execute our change implementations at work.
